The
name Joanna came from a soap opera that my mom watched during her pregnancy of
me. She heard the name Joanna and named me after her. My dad liked it a lot. He
was so happy even though I was the second daughter. But then he wanted to name
me Elodia which is my grandmother’s name but my mom didn’t agree. So they both
agreed with Joanna Yvette.
My dad was the one who took my mom to the hospital,
and my grandma came along. My sister was just one year old when I was born. My
mom told me that when I was a month old my sister bit my fingers. Also that she
would be so jealous that she would try to hit me. My mom then didn’t even want
to leave me anywhere with out her watching me.
I have three other siblings. When my brother Edgar was born
I remember him up until he was five months. I liked playing with him and his
little feet. Then when my other sister Ariana was born I remember caring her and
acting as if she was a little doll. I would put her on my baby dolls crib and
since she was small enough to fit I set her down in there. Natalie is the last
sister I have, when she was born I remember waiting for my mom in the hospital
room when she got there with my little sister, I was really happy. My whole
family was complete and every day of our lives is a good day.
My family is very unique. Our last name is very
different from others, which I think is cool. Also in how we have family members
nearby and also far away. My family doesn’t have a special tradition, and we
celebrate most of the holidays. The most favorite memory of Christmas was when
we went to San Diego with some relatives that we rarely see. That night of
Christmas even was fun, because while we were with for the time to come and open
presents we played so many fun games.
I have lived in Santa Barbara, but that was when I
was a year or so. Then we moved to Oxnard.
Oxnard is also the best city I’ve
lived in, because I have been living here for 16 years now. I didn’t like Santa
Barbara because it was so lonely and nasty.
At school, I like the schedule they have for us and the
“Jacket Fever Days”. What I really dislike would be the food they give us for
lunch and the fact that we have study hall and were they make our prom. I don’t
participate in any activities, If I did it would be the soccer them.
My favorite subject is math. To me math is easy because
you’re just dealing with numbers and if you pay close attention is not that hard
to figure out. U.S. History was the subject that gave me the most headaches. I
just didn’t understand some things and I was always lost when it came to the
wars and all that stuff.
I’m going to attend Oxnard Collage because it’s a great
campus and it’s also close to my house. After leaving high school, my plans for
the future will be to attend a collage and then make it to a university. I like
to have a teaching credential, and teach math for junior high kids. OHS is a
good school and I loved it through all my four years in it.
