My parents named
me Micah because they liked the chapter in The Bible. I got my name
because my mom wanted me to have an uncommon name. “Micah” is a question; it
means “Who is like God?”
Luckily, I have a birth-story; it was about an
hour after I was born. That’s when I urinated all over my dad’s face. He was so
in shock he had nothing better to do than laugh. I am the baby in the family.
Everyone in my family is older than I am. Yes, this means that I get special
treatment. My older brother was born about a year and a couple months before me.
I do recall spending time with my grandparents although, my grandmother was
there more than my grandfather because he was always busy
with his jazz career. The best part of
going to my grandma’s house was the smell of soul-food.
To me, the
special thing about me and my family is that no matter how much we argue, we
still care for each other at the end of it all. A special holiday tradition that
my family has is Family Reunions. One week out of every two years, all of my
family members meet up at one park and have fun, eat food, and overall has a
good time with each other. It is a great way to get to know your far-away
relatives a little better.
I have lived in
Los Angeles, California for
about ten years until my dad got a new job in
Santa Barbra so we moved between
the two, which put us here in Oxnard. I liked Los Angeles more than Oxnard
because I had relatives up there. I have no relatives here but I have many
friends. Most of my childhood memories are in Los Angeles such as; hanging out
in the backyard inside my tree-house.
My favorite
hobby is dancing and listening to music. I listen to all kinds of music like;
hip-hop, rap, R&B, gospel, rock, and old school.
Mostly, I listen to hip-hop and R&B because they take the most interest in my
life. Every once in a while I listen to other kinds, depending on how I feel.
The sports that I used to play were baseball,
basketball, and football.
The
best thing about them was that they were very fun and enjoyable. I was very good
in my previous days but now, it’s all about dance. I am on a hip-hop dance team
here at Oxnard High School. The name of the dance team is All Natural. To me it
is very fun. It takes lots of memorization and dedication to be on the team. I
have to maintain good grades to be on the team.
The characteristics that I like about school
are that I can have fun with friends and communicate with them. School is an
environment where you can learn as well as do spontaneous things on campus.
What I dislike about school is that there are so mane requirements that you
need to graduate and less having fun. The clubs/organizations that I
participate in is the dance team here at Oxnard high School. All Natural is
exciting as well as hard working to achieve the arts of dance.
My favorite subject in school would definitely
have to be Historical classes such as; U.S. history and world geography
because they teach you facts that happened in this world before I was here.
The subject that gives me the biggest headache would have to be Algebra.
Algebra is difficult to understand for me but, just give me a little extra
time and I will figure the equation out. The awards that I have been given at
school would have to be talent show trophy, perfect attendance award, student
of the month certificate, baseball trophy, basketball trophy, football trophy,
dance trophy.
The college that I plan to attend is the
University of California San
Diego. I would like to attend U.C.S.D. because the campus is beautiful and
the city has its own great qualities that I like. My future plans are to
become a business major and work somewhere full time. The job that I would
definitely want is to be an executive in some kind of money-making firm.
Lastly, my life has been a great adventure
that I hope never ends. Hopefully, I can achieve all these great hopes for the
future.
