I have a very special name. My parents named me
Christopher. They named me Christopher to go along with my mom Christina. My
middle name Paul was from my great grandfather, Paul. Then, there of course,
there is Valenzuela; which comes from many generations of Valenzuela’s. I have
one older brother named Fredric. Most people call him Freddie. He’s twenty-two
years old. He was named after my dad, whose name is also Fredric, so it was
only fair that I was named after my mom when my brother was named after my dad.
As for me, I’m 18 years old, standing at 5’ 4”. I’m on the
short side but I make up for it with humor and persistence. I like to hang out
with my friends and family. I was born and raised in Oxnard CA. I love to make
people laugh just as much as I love to laugh. Sometimes people say that they
laugh just because I laugh. I like to watch and play sports. I used to play
basketball, soccer, and baseball. I like to watch the Lakers, Raiders, and the
Dodgers play on television. I grew up around sports, watching it on television
and watching my brother play as well. Unlike my brother, who was always an all
around athlete and usually one of the best, I wasn’t the best; but I always gave it my all. I believe
strongly in my religion as well as family. I go to church every Sunday, and I’m
a Confirmation Youth Leader at Santa Clara Church. It involves lots of
commitment, but I enjoy going to meetings and interacting with new people.
When I was born I was a tiny baby. I was born a month premature.
I weighed only 5.6lbs and was 15in, long. My dad said that he could hold me in one hand.
I was born with Microtia and Scoliosis. I remember a
lot about going to my grandparents’ house when I was little. I used to go to my Grandma Esther’s
house when my parents went to work. I used to watch television with her, even
though we never really had a meaningful talk, because she only speaks Spanish
and I don’t speak much Spanish. I used to go to my Grandma Virginia’s house a
lot too. I used to love when she would massage my legs and make grilled
cheese sandwiches. We would watch the
show “Golden Girls”. It was our favorite show to watch together.
I believe that family is a very important asset to have in
life. I think that everything that you want and believe in starts with family.
Family can help you in times when friends can’t. Friends are a good thing to
have, but without family you’re lost. Family sticks with you in the good and
the bad times. My family has always been there for me. They would come and
cheer for me at my sports games and drive to Los Angeles when I had surgeries.
I’m very grateful to have a loving family.
Usually every year, my parents usually host Thanksgiving.
Everyone in my entire family says that my dad makes the best mashed potatoes.
On Christmas Eve we always go to my grandma’s house to celebrate Christmas with
my mom’s side of the family. On Christmas night, we usually switch off between
our house and my Aunt Eileen’s house every other year. My favorite holiday is
just being with my family on Christmas, because it’s a special day, and who
better to share it with than family.
I was born and raised in Oxnard California. I have never
lived anywhere else. I moved to a new house when I was one year old, but never
out of the city. I didn’t want to leave either. Why leave when the weather is
nice here and all of our friends and family live in Oxnard?
My favorite hobby is being in ASB.
I’ve been in ASB for four years and I’ve enjoyed every one of them. I like
being in ASB because it’s a way to be involved with my school. I like all the
activities that we host such as rallies, dances, noontimes, and etc. I like
setting up rallies just because I enjoy hanging out with everyone in ASB;
they’re a great group of people to be around. It’s always stressful around
Rally and Dance days. There’s always so much work that has to be done in such
a little time. It’s tough, but we get it done. People say that ASB is such an
easy class where all we do is make posters, and I hate that. The one thing I
never do in ASB is make posters. I’ve tried and tried, but I just can’t do it.
I think I’m one of the worst drawers and writers; I have no artistic ability
what so ever. There have been times where Mr. Parizo could be a little over
dramatic and annoying, but all in all he’s a good man.
When I’m not doing something for
ASB, I enjoy playing videogames, watching television, listening to music, and
hanging out with my friends just like any other teenager.
When I was young, I used to play a
lot of sports. I used to play baseball, soccer, and basketball. I played
baseball since I was five. I played from t-ball to minors. I was on many teams
such as the Blue Jays, Marlins, Pirates, Reds, and Cubs. Unfortunately, I was
never on the Dodgers, who have always been my favorite team. I was always
usually the smallest and not the best. I played second base and outfield. The
only bad thing was that in mini-minors; I got beaned with the ball a lot, even
by my own coach. My teams were usually pretty descent.
I played basketball for my
school, The St. Anthony Tigers from third grade to eighth grade; although I
didn’t play in fourth grade. I played shooting guard, because I used to get
nervous when I would play point guard. It’s hard being the best on the team
when everyone else was a foot taller than me, but I played my best and people
would make the most noise when I scored because I was the little guy on the
team.

I used to play soccer which was
the sport I was best at. I played defender sometimes, but mostly mid field.
Some of the teams that I was on were the Panthers, Bombers, Lasers, and Manta
Rays. Most of the teams I was on were pretty good. We took first or second
place in our division in every team except for one. On all teams we went to
play in Ventura. On one team, we went one game away from playing in
Bakersfield. I had good luck by being able to play on good teams.
I really like it here at Oxnard High School because there’s always something to
do and someone to do it with. There’s a great group of people that are so
talented in their own way. Whether it’s being athletic, funny, or a great
educator, there are many great people here on campus. There are people who
aren’t that great on campus. There are the teachers that you’ve heard stories
about and you’re just praying that you don’t get them as a teacher. There are
also the fighters who just like to cause trouble and mess up everything.
Although the good always out weighs the bad.
I’m a small guy who’s fun to be around and joke with. I love my family very
much and I wouldn’t change anything about them, because they’ve always been
there for me. I’m a very active and energetic person that doesn’t mind getting
hurt when it comes to sports. Sports are one of my favorite things to do and
watch. I cheer for the Lakers,
the Raiders, and of course
the Dodgers.
I’m very active with my school and church. I’m in ASB which is a good class for
people who want to be involved in their school planning rallies, dances, and
other social events. I’m a Confirmation leader over at Santa Clara Church which
is good for a teenager who wants to be involved with their church. Well that
about summarizes me.
