My name, Cesar, was chosen by both of my parents but there
basically is no story behind it. They just liked that name and decided to name
me on the day I was born. I was born on March 8, 1991. I have a younger brother
and a younger sister after me. My brother’s name is Nestor and he’s 15 yrs old
and was born on February 25, 1992 and my sister’s name is Brenda and she’s 7 yrs
old and was born on August 11, 2000. I am the oldest, so I’m the big brother.
What I remember about my sister when she was born is that she came out a month
earlier than she was supposed to but nothing actually affected her, so
everything was fine with her eventually. The only time I get to spent time with
my grandparents is when I go visit them in Mexico, which I only go every once a
year in January. Every time I go visit them I at least stay with them for a
month. When I do I try to have the most fun with my grandparents and take
advantage because they only get to see me once a year. But I always have good
memories when I go down and visit them.
What’s special and unique about my family is that we are so
close together and we love each other so much in good times and bad times. We
always like to spend time together and we always talk about what’s going on our
life and how we’re doing in life. My family and I have no special holiday
traditions. But we do celebrate every holiday there is when it comes to it.
Well, my favorite memory of a family holiday is Christmas. The reason why is
because the whole entire family comes over to my house like all my uncles and
aunts plus my family and all my cousins. We stay up all night with a small fire
in our backyard and wait until the clock hits midnight and then we say merry
Christmas to each other and give out hugs.
From what I can remember my family and I have only lived in
Los Angeles and here in Oxnard, California. I was born in Los Angeles and lived
there for 9 years. Then we moved and headed over here to Oxnard because it was
much calmer and all of my dad’s brothers lived in Oxnard. Around the
neighborhood we lived in L.A. wasn’t really so nice. There was always trouble on
the streets and gun shots and the town wasn’t really best looking. It was all
filthy and dirty and all you would basically see when you walked around is pure
black African Americans and my dad didn’t really fell like that’s the place
where we should be at. That’s when we came down to Oxnard and I liked it way
much better than Los Angeles because it was much calmer. In Oxnard you would
basically see every race of culture and that was a nice thing about it.
My
favorite hobby is soccer. I have always liked soccer ever since I was a little
kid. I was raised watching my dad’s brothers play soccer all the time because
they played for a team and my father and I would always go watch them play
because it was fun. Well there was this one time when I used to play the
violin instrument when I was like 7 or 8 years old. I used to take lessons
after school in a program that I was in Los Angeles. I would always stay after
school for violin lessons because I was interested in how to play an
instrument that I liked. I never played for anyone because eventually it kept
getting harder and harder and then I just gave up and gave up my hopes. That
was the only time ever played an instrument and I never have ever since then.
So, in my spare time I like hanging out with my friends and at the same time I
like spending time with my family too.
Currently, I’m not in sports, but I used to play soccer.
I just liked the whole thing because it would keep me in shape, especially in
running because that’s what you do for the first 45 minutes and the second
half for 45 minutes in the game. I used to play in all three positions which
are forward, middle, and defense. I liked playing in all three positions
because I got to experience how it feels to play in all 3 different positions.
I used to play for a team here in the city of Oxnard. The team was called
Mexico and I was playing in a club team. We were okay; we won some games and
lost some games.
The
best family trip I can remember is when we would always go to Mexico to go
visit my grandparents and stay with them for about a month. We went to Jalisco
of San Sebastian which is close to the city of Guadalajara. My family and I go
every January because in that month they have a fair which they celebrate San
Sebastian. They throw a big fair and it always gets packed with people and
it’s only a small town. The best thing I liked about it is when they had two
days were you weren’t suppose to sleep if you lasted that long and walk all
over the place where ever they took the San Sebastian. My dad and I were the
only ones that lasted between our family and just stayed up all night dancing
and having fun. I liked everything we did when we would go to Mexico and just
experience new things every time we would go.
The only thing I like about school is coming to see all of
my friends. The one thing I hate about school is coming to class and just
sitting there being all bored, even though I know it’s a good thing because the
reason you come to school for is to get an education and live on. I understand
the purpose of school but I don’t like the idea. I used to be in a club group
before. It was a program where you would stay after school and staff and
teachers will help you do your homework in any kind of help that you needed. I
always used to stay after school to finish up my homework with a little help of
others.
My
favorite subject in school before was Math. I used to like solving equations and
competing with other students around. As I kept advancing in math it kept
getting harder and that’s when I started to dislike it because you had to think
too much and put much more effort. The subject that gave me the most headaches
was English. I hate English so much because all you do in there is always write
essays and book reports. For example, you have to write like a 4 to 5 page
essays. Well I used to receive awards for perfect attendance back when I was in
elementary school. I always came to school and there wasn’t once where I would
be absent, even if I was sick I would still come.
What I plan on doing after high school is go to a junior
college for 2 years. I plan to attend at Oxnard College because it’s close to my
house. I plan to go there for only 2 years to see what I want to focus on. After
I figure out what my major is I will transfer and go to a different college. My
plan is to look for a good job that pays me good money. I want to be able to
support my family in the future with the descent job that I have and give it my
best. What I always wanted to be was a doctor, but I know for a fact that it’s
hard because you have to continue college for a certain amount of years. I
choose this because I want to be able to help out people that are sick, injured
or in any other occasions. So that’s going to be my goal that I want to achieve
in the future.
