My first name is Jacqueline, but I go by “Jackie” for short. My parents gave me that name because they heard it a lot and thought it would be nice for me to have that name. Fortunately, I was not named after anyone which is good although many other girls have my name. When I was born my dad was out of town so my mom had to go on her own to the hospital. While my mom was in labor my dad was at his mom’s funeral in Mexico because she had died. I was born in Ventura at 9:40 a.m. , my weight was 7lbs. 14oz. and I was 19½ in. long. My dad came back to Oxnard around 11:00 p.m. that same day I was born and rushed to the hospital where my mom and I were. The nurses didn’t want to let my dad in because they said it was too late but they were compassionate enough to let him see me after such a hard time. I have four younger brothers and a younger sister. I don’t remember anything from when my sister and brothers were born because I would be asleep when my mom had to go give birth and it was a long time ago.

The special thing about my family and I is that our family has eight members: my mom and dad, four brothers, one sister and I. Our family doesn’t really have special holiday traditions. My favorite memory of a family holiday is Christmas of 2006 because I got a lot of gifts more than any other year and we got to go to Mexico for about a month.

I have lived in Oxnard, CA ever since I can remember. The homes in my neighborhood aren’t that big, but there are some million dollar homes. I think that Oxnard is the best city and I wouldn’t trade it for any other.

My favorite hobby is to spend time with my cousin because she is very fun to hang around with. My cousin and I are like sisters. We share everything and if we’re not together on something, it’s just not as fun. In my free time I do many things. My favorite thing to do is to listen to Chris Brown because he’s my favorite R&B singer. I love him and his music so much that I could listen and watch him 24/7. I also like to go to the movies with my cousin and if I have more time I’ll go out with some of my friends to the mall.

When I was younger I would play a lot of sports because they made us do it in our P.E. class. I got the chance to play basketball, soccer, softball, tennis and flag football. I liked to play basketball the most because I was good at scoring for my team. My team in my P.E class was actually very good and fun.

The best family vacation that I can remember of was when we went to Mexico. We went there on a car so of course I got to see many cities and states on our way there. The best thing about this trip was that I got to taste a lot of different foods and visit new places in Mexico.

The one thing that I really like about school is that I get to spend time with my friends every day. I also like that on Tuesdays we go in at 9:00 a.m. instead of 8:00 a.m. which gives me an extra hour of sleep. I dislike many things about school like the fact that we have to be with one teacher for 1 hour 30 min. and that they give us a lot homework.

My favorite subject is math because it comes natural to me I have never struggled with it. Science, on the other hand, didn’t come to me so easily. Ever since Jr. high I’ve hated science because its confusing. I’ve received many awards. Once a year in kinder-6^th grade I would be student of the month, I was student of the year once and I got many certificates of good attendance.

I would like to attend Oxnard College or Ventura College because those are the closest to me. After I graduate from high school I plan on getting a job. If I don’t have one by that time, I will go to a community college first and then transfer to a university. I would like to be in the career field of business. I would love to have a job at a bank or in a hotel.

I love to listen to Chris Brown because I’m a great fan of his. I like to spend time with my cousin and friends because they’re the ones that make my day better. I still have a long way to go in life but this is just the beginning. With my hard work and education I hope to succeed in life, be proud of myself and what I will accomplish and make my parents proud of me too.
